They usually stand at 15-16 hands high, and primarily come in bay, brown, grey, or occasionally chestnut. They have necks which are arched, muscular, strong, and usually carried high. The Akhal-Teke is usually 14.3-16.3 hands high. Akhal-Tekes are usually a pale golden color with black points, but can also be bay, black, chestnut or grey. A notable feature of this breed is the metallic "bloom" of its coat, with some horses "shimmering" more than others.&lt;br /&gt; It is thought that this type of coloring helped them camouflage easier in the desert.
